Terms and Conditions of Membership
corac membership lasts for an initial 12 months. Refunds may be given at corac's discretion. Membership will be due for renewal 12 months after we accept your initial application. We’ll remind you before your next annual fee is due.
As a condition of higher membership categories, you will be required to demonstrate CPD (continuous professional development).
Your application to join corac includes commitments to our Members Code and to abide by these terms and conditions and to our Privacy Policy.
You are bound by these commitments once we confirm your membership.
corac Membership
(1) corac members shall be those persons who are admitted as members in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
(2) The categories of members shall be: Individual Members and Company Members.
(3) There shall be the following classes of Individual Members:
(a) Affiliate Members - a FREE of charge category that introduces new members to a sample of our full member benefits
(b) Associate Members - our entry level paid-for category, providing full member benefits without a training requirement to acceptance
(c) Technical Members - requires applicants to pass our Test 1 assessment and to initiate CPD
(d) Professional Members - requires applicants to pass our test 2 assessment, submit a successful assignment and demonstrate CPD
(e) Fellow Members - requires 3 years as a Professional Member, an unbroken CPD record and a successfully submitted project, piece of work or thesis to current corac specifications
Post-nominals
(1) Individual Members will be distinguished as follows:
(a) Affiliate Members - there will be no post-nominal designation
(b) Associate Members - are entitled to use Assoc.CORAC
(c) Technical Members - are entitled to use Tech.CORAC
(d) Professional Members - are entitled to use Prof.CORAC
(e) Fellow Members - are entitled to use F.CORAC
Joining
(1) Applications will be made online via our website, providing supporting information as applicable and with 12 months fees paid electronically in advance
(2) All applications for membership shall be considered by the director, and in cases where there is cause to question an application, with support from the Steering Committee
(3) Those granted membership shall be informed of the class of membership granted and will receive membership benefits as per those stated on the current corac website
(4) Existing members shall be sent renewal instructions in advance of their membership expiry date
Rights and obligations of members
(1) All members commit at application stage to uphold these Terms and Conditions and our Members Code.
(2) All paid-up members shall receive a copy of coracs annual financial report
Subscriptions
(1) Every member is required to pay an annual subscription for membership at the current advertised rates
(2) The amount of the subscription shall be as determined by the Director under advisement from the Steering Committee.
(3) Failure to pay the annual subscription when it falls due may lead to termination of membership
(4) The Director shall have the power to waive or reduce the annual subscription in the case of any Individual Member
Advisory and Training
(1) corac shall at all times seek to point members to official sources of information and will offer its interpretation of that information
(2) However it does so on the understanding that it [corac] is not a law firm, legal consultant or medical practitioner and that the member retains all responsibility for ensuring that they operate within the requirements of current UK law
(3) Provision of advice is also subject to fair usage and may be terminated at the Director's discretion
(4) corac's total liability in contract tort (including negligence or breach of statutory duty) misrepresentation or otherwise with respect of any claim arising in respect of its acts or omissions in relation to the provision of advice or training shall be limited to the total sums received by corac pursuant to the membership agreement in the calendar year of the claim relating to such acts or omissions
Termination of Membership
(1) A member shall cease to be a corac member in any of the following circumstances:
(a) if he resigns by giving notice in writing to corac;
(b) if he fails for a period of three months (or such longer period as the Steering Committee may determine) to pay any annual subscriptions or other fees or amounts due from him to corac;
(c) if he is removed from membership for poor behaviour, bringing corac into disrepute or failing to uphold these Terms and Conditions or our Members Code.
(2) Where any enquiry or investigation into the conduct of a member has commenced, or where disciplinary proceedings against that member are current, the termination of membership shall not be effective until confirmed in writing by corac.
(3) Any member who ceases to be so shall remain liable to corac for all annual subscriptions and other sums which may have been due from him at the date his membership ceased in respect of the period ending on such date.
(4) The Director, under the advisement of the Steering Committee, may readmit any member whose membership has been terminated
Discipline
(1) All members are required to comply with these Terms and Conditions and with our Members Code.
(2) A member who is suspended shall not, throughout the period of suspension, be permitted to use any designation or post-nominal initials appropriate to membership
(3) A member who is expelled shall have the right to apply to the Director for readmission but no earlier than two years from either the date of the disciplinary decision or the date of the decision made in respect of a previous application for readmission.
Steering Committee
(1) corac shall be governed by the Director, under the advisement of the Steering Committee.
(2) The Steering Committee shall consist of (up to) 10 volunteers of relevant background and experience to corac membership
(3) Appointment to and removal from the Steering Committee will be at the invitation and discretion of the Director
(4) Steering Committee members will not remunerated for their contribution but will be encouraged to promote their efforts and commitment on professional profiles. corac shall provide a nominal thank you gift for Steering Committee members with full transparency within its annual financial report
Equality and diversity
(1) It shall be the duty of the Director to take steps to promote equality and diversity across corac's membership
